EFFECT OF MOTIVATION IN EMPLOYEE PERFORMANCE IN KENYA’S CIVIL SERVICE
Abstract
Theconceptofemployeemotivationhasbeenaperennialsubjectof debateamongscholars.Motivationdoesaffectandcontinuesto affectemployeeperformanceinorganizationsthatleadstolow performance.Thispaperseekstoexamineselectedmotivational issuesthataffectemployeeperformanceintheKenyancivilservice. Motivationplaysacriticalroleintheoverallperformanceandgrowth oforganizations.Mostoftheemployeesinthecivilserviceexhibit lowmotivationtocertainextentcontributestotheminimal performance.ThegovernmentofKenyathroughitsministriessince theearly1990’shascomeupwithstrategiestowardsperformance improvement.
