SPEECH BY THE KABARAK UNIVERSITY GOVERNING COUNCIL CHAIRMAN, PROF. JOHN LONYANGAPUO DURING THE DEDICATION AND OFFICIAL LAUNCH OF NAKURU TOWN CAMPUS ON 20TH SEP, 2013

Abstract

On behalf of the Governing Council, may I take this opportunity to congratulate the Chancellor and Board of Trustees for acquiring the property where the new campus stands. The new campus being launched today is a landmark towards the achievement of the University vision and mission. The new Milimani Town campus offers adequate space for learning, research, worship and recreation. This facility will go a long way in making Kabarak University a centre of excellence. The campus is located in the heart of the fastest growing town in East and Central Africa. The new campus with the state-of-the-art facilities will enable more Kenyans acquire high-skills needed for national and global job market .Kabarak University will continue to produce citizens equipped with skills, knowledge, expertise and values required for a robust economy as envisioned in Vision 2030. Ladies and gentlemen, the governing council will continue to support the development of new programs and facilities in this campus. It is encouraging to note that the campus is experiencing massive growth in student enrolment and facilities. With this facility in town, the working class can comfortably upgrade their professional skills by enrolling in various programs conducted in the evenings and weekends. The private and public sectors will benefit from this campus significantly. We further encourage the Nakuru County government to partner with us to promote economic, technological, social and industrial development of the county and the nation at large. Finally Ladies and gentlemen I call upon the residents of Nakuru Town and its environs to make use of this campus. Kabarak University is known for quality and excellence; our graduates are among the best in the country. Our parents and employers are proud of our graduates. We shall continue to offer excellent and quality education based on Biblical Christian values. Our focus is the development of the whole person-the mind, the spirit and the body. May God bless you all
