Nyamache, Tom
Regional integration in the SSA is no shortcut; its instead a requirement. Member states, however poor, backward and isolated require political goodwill and support. Trade blocs enhance the co-operation in the region though it hasn’t worked.
2013-10-01T00:00:00ZTEACHERS’ VIEWPOINTS ON THE USE OF ICT IN THE TEACHING OF LANGUAGES IN KENYAKinyua, Waweru EdwardGathigia, Moses gathambukihttp://ir.kabarak.ac.ke/handle/123456789/8052024-03-23T05:16:14Z2013-10-16T00:00:00ZTEACHERS’ VIEWPOINTS ON THE USE OF ICT IN THE TEACHING OF LANGUAGES IN KENYA
Kinyua, Waweru Edward; Gathigia, Moses gathambuki
Some few decades ago chalk, blackboard, textbooks and
teachers were the prominent components of teaching and
learning in schools but recent development of ICT means that this
landscape is rapidly changing not only in the education sector but
in all sectors of the economy.
Information Communication Technology (ICT) is increasingly
becoming important in our daily lives and in our educational
system.
ICT tools are being integrated in the teaching and learning process
in many learning institution of the world.
The pedagogical benefits and contributions to learning and teaching
associated with ICT are numerous and will continue to be as new
software are developed to aid in teaching and learning.
Teachers’ viewpoints are critical influence on students’
confidence and attitude towards ICT as teachers provide
important role model to their students.
There is lack of study on teachers ICT perception, teachers’ ICT
competencies and their views on ICT infrastructure as a tool in
delivering teaching and learning of languages in secondary schools.

ODHIAMBO, KENNETH; KISAMBA, CLARIS
Courtroom interaction is a verbal exchange which
differs from talk on ordinary conversation because it is
not a true conversation between speakers as what is
said is meant for a third party (judge/ magistrate).
It violates ordinary conversation as it is controlled by
practices of control of information, compelling people
to answer questions that they may not want to answer.
Talk is distributed according to rigid rules.

Eliveha, Obege Edgar; Mwangi, Dr. Patrick M; Thiong’o, Prof. George T
Cashew nut shell liquid (CNSL), a by-product cashew nut processing
contains : anarcardic acid, cardanol, cardol & 2 – methyl cardol.
Cardanol & cardol were isolated from CNSL using chemical method
adopted from Kumar (2002).
Preservative was prepared by incorporating copper & chlorine in CNSL,
decarboxylated CNSL, cardanol & cardol. its efficacy against termites was
compared with commercially available termiticide (chlorpyrifos)
Test samples were coated with preservatives formulated, another batch
chlorpyrifos & control being wood blocks dipped in distilled water then
introduced at ant hills having a nest of Microcerotermes beesoni for 60
days.
Keen observations were made on feeding habits of termites on wood
samples of Juniperus procera, Grevilea robusta, & Pinus insularis.
% weight loss was calculated for each block after termite exposure & knife
test carried out to determine the extent of destruction.

AKWALA, ALFRED. O; BIGAMBO, OKUMU
Maternal health refers to the health of
the mother during pregnancy, childbirth
and the postpartum period( WHO, 2008).
Access and utilization of basic health
care in rural Kenya is a worrying issue.
Kenya is one of the countries in the
Sub-Saharan Africa with the highest
Maternal-Child mortality. It is estimated that Kenya has MMR of
414 per 100,000 live births(KHDS, 2007)
USAID/ MCHIP recent report indicated
an estimated 21 women die every day of
pregnancy related cases in Kenya
Same report says approximately 120
newborns die every day within 24 hours
of birth.
